English Thai Dictionary

This bilingual Dictionary is between English and Thai

Simply type a Thai or English word in the search text-box that appears at the top of every page and click the "Dictionary-Search" button (or just hit the Enter key). This will perform a search for the word in the dictionary hosted on our site. If you don't know how to spell the word, typing the beginning of the word normally render adequate search results. The dictionary will automatically detect what language you are searching in. If you search the dictionary using a thai word, make sure you use thai script. You can use the Virtual Thai Keyboard, cut and paste the thai word into the search box. The dictionary search result will provide thai words transcribed with roman letters if available. Thai letters are hard to read in the beginning of a learning process so we've provided a link to an image with very big letters next to each Thai translation. Look for this symbol: Thai script We've also implemented a reverse lookup function that allows you to look up the translated word in the opposite language dictionary. If you need help, Thailand Forum can be an excellent resource for finding that help. (choose language at the bottom)

The English Thai Dictionary is a free online translation dictionary. There are more than 83000 English words and phrases translated into Thai and there are more that 40000 Thai words and phrases translated into English. We started this site in 2006 as an effort to provide a free online dictionary with a minimum of commercial messages, just focusing on the main task, which is to translate words and phrases quickly. The site has grown to become one of the most used Thai online dictionaries, appreciated not only in Thailand, but all over the world. We are happy to continue working on improving the online dictionary service. The service is totally free but we appreciate if you tip your friends about English Thai Dictionary. Thanks. We have provided a Site Map with every single page you can find on the English Thai Dictionary.

The Dictionary has added a new reverse lookup feature which allows you to look up a word by its definition in the opposite language. For example if you look up the word "tax" in the English-Thai dictionary it will render a search result where the Thai word ภาษี is one of them. Next to the word ภาษี you can find the link "reverse lookup". If you follow that link it will make a lookup of the thai word ภาษี in the Thai-English dictionary instead. It will render a lot of search results and English words related to tax that you maybe wouldn't think of otherwise. The reverse dictionary lookup is useable to find synonyms and you could also use it as a Thesaurus, (it's not a kind of dinasaur).

You can also browse the dictionary in both the English language and in the Thai language by letters. When you browse you will se all the dictionary entries in alphabetic order and you can jump to any page of your choise. This function is also available in Thai with all the 42 Thai consonants. Thai alphabetic order is ignoring preceding wowels (strange isn't it?) so you browse the Thai dictionary by selecting the first Thai consonant in the word. Just click the letter to browse to the desired page in the dictionary. If you choose for example the letter in the English browse function, "L", the L-words will most likely not start at the top of that page so you would typically have to scroll down a bit on the dictionary page.
